Entrepreneur Literacy
Exploring Small, Real-World Ideas
It’s a friendly way to practice literacy using everyday business ideas. Each short example shows how an ordinary person can spot a problem, imagine a solution, check the numbers, and take small steps that add up. Think of it as learning to read, write, and reason with the real world.
Use the background material listed below in custom lessons now. In Phase II (2026), specific literacy lessons will be added referencing these documents. Sample: entrepreneur literacy lesson.
- Diapers R Us Grant Proposal: Develop a diaper service business that services local daycares. Why? One contract equals many babies, pickups are concentrated at fewer addresses, and parents see the service in action every day. That builds trust and can even inspire families to sign up for home service. Read the brain storming session. (Approach the topic as a entrepreneur literacy lesson.)
- Amber Patchwork Website Definition: Amber is allergic to the sun. She wants to do something positive while learning to manage her condition. She knows sun allergies are rare, but many people are concerned about overexposure to the sun. Information about managing allergies would also be of general interest to many. Furthermore, as temperatures rise,
people want to find ways to enjoy out-of-doors while avoiding not the sun per se, but the heat. Amber believes there is enough interesting information to justify starting a blog.
Note: Amber Patchwork: This example grew out of a period when I was studying skin reactions and UV sensitivity. The project is complete as a sample planning document, and I keep it here to show how anyone can turn a personal challenge or curiosity into a well-planned learning project.
