When you come across a written word you do not recognise you can divide (di-vide) the word into syllables (syl-la-bles) or sounds and tackle reading the word one sound at a time. This process of sounding out a word should help you recognise the word and usage.
Syllables help make reading, writing, and spelling easier. This process of dividing into syllables helps you to recognize the written word which you then pronounce as you know it is spoken in your region. (This process may be more challenging when English is not your first language.)

Remember: A heterogeneous language is a language comprised of or influenced by many different languages or dialects. The English language did not develop in isolation. Spelling English words is best learned by practicing.
I aim to divide words into syllables to help with reading or spelling. If you need more guidance on pronunciation during exercises, follow the link to the Cambridge online dictionary. A dictionary shows pronunciation divisions.
